Basic structure of gantry shear:
The structural design of gantry shear is centered around “stable shearing” and “carrying large loads”, and the core components include:
1. machine frame
consists of the left and right side of the gantry frame (welded steel plate) and the base, forming a solid “door” structure, is the supporting skeleton of the equipment, need to withstand the huge impact of shear, so the frame is usually made of high-strength alloy steel, and after aging treatment to eliminate internal stress.
2. Cutting mechanism
(1) Upper knife frame: the installation of the upper blade, driven by a hydraulic cylinder to do up and down reciprocating motion, to complete the shear action.
Lower knife holder: fixed on the lower base, installed under the blade, and the upper blade to form a shear angle (generally 3 ° -8 °, to reduce the shear resistance).
(2) blade: made of high hardness alloy tool steel (such as Cr12MoV), the edge of the quenched, wear-resistant, can be adjusted according to the shear material blade gap (gap will lead to deformation of the material is too large, too small is to exacerbate the wear of the blade).
3. Hydraulic system

Working principle of Steel Plate Guillotine:
The working process of the gantry shears is based on the synergy of “hydraulic drive - mechanical shear”:
1. The scrap metal to be cut is placed on the lower knife frame by hand or by a feeding mechanism and positioned in the cutting position. 2. the control panel is operated to start the machine;
2. Operate the control panel, start the equipment, the hydraulic pump began to work, the hydraulic oil in the hydraulic tank is pressurized and then through the oil pipe to the main hydraulic cylinder.
3. High-pressure hydraulic oil to push the hydraulic cylinder piston rod downward movement, driving the upper knife frame and the upper blade down, and the lower blade with the metal material to apply shear force;
4. When the shear force exceeds the shear strength of the metal material, the material is cut off;
5. After the completion of the shear, the hydraulic system reversal, the piston rod drives the upper knife frame back to the initial position, waiting for the next operation.
Throughout the process, the relief valve can prevent the system pressure is too high, the travel switch to control the maximum drop distance on the knife frame to ensure shear precision and equipment safety.
Operating points of Metal Guillotine Cutter:
1. Preparation for operation: check whether the equipment components are normal: blade installation is solid, reasonable gap (adjusted according to the thickness of the material, generally 5% -10% of the thickness of the material); hydraulic oil level, oil quality is normal; electrical wiring is not loose, broken.
Clean up the operation area to ensure that there are no unrelated personnel and obstacles, check whether the emergency stop button function is reliable.
According to the thickness and hardness of the material to be cut, adjust the pressure of the hydraulic system (high hardness, thickness of the material needs to be adjusted to higher pressure, but shall not exceed the rated pressure of the equipment).
2. operation specification: strictly prohibited to cut more than the rated shear capacity of the equipment material (such as thickness, hardness exceeds the standard), to avoid overload damage to the blade or hydraulic system.
The material must be placed smoothly and accurately positioned to prevent the material from sliding when shearing injuries or lead to shear deformation.
Prohibit the simultaneous cutting of a variety of different thickness, hardness of the material, so as to avoid uneven force affecting the cutting effect or damage to the equipment.
Operation should stand in a safe area (away from the shear point and moving parts of the equipment), closely observe the operating status of the equipment, if there is a strange noise, oil leakage, vibration abnormalities, etc., immediately stop the machine to check.
3. Post-operation processing: Turn off the power supply of the equipment, clean up the metal chips generated by the shear, check the wear and tear of the blade, if the edge of the blunt edge need to be polished or replaced in a timely manner.
Tidy up the materials after shearing, keep the operation area tidy.
